Series 4 Episode 7

A team from Taronga Zoo travel to the Snowy Mountains to find Corroboree Frog eggs that they hope will help save the species, while back in Sydney staff await the arrival of a new Zebra and at the same time have to say goodbye to an old friend. At the Taronga Wildlife Hospital vets treat an injured Greater Glider, something the clinic hasn’t had to treat before and while at Werribee Open Range Zoo a giraffe gets a different form of treatment.

Animal Updates

In the battle to save the Southern Corroboree Frog, Taronga Zoo for the first time successfully bred the species for reintroduction in to the wild.

The Southern Corroboree Frog is Critically Endangered with fewer than 150 left in the Kosciusko highlands.

A very special patient, a Greater Glider, was treated at Taronga’s Wildlife Hospital after sustaining horrific injuries from barbed wire fencing.

The new male zebra has settled into Taronga Zoo. Zebra keeper Adam said that “the two boys get along great and the new, younger male is starting to challenge the adult male for his position, as expected”.

Taronga Zebra Shani moved from Taronga to Werribee as part of a regional breeding program for the species.
